Spring Fling 2012

Please join the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Valley Center Chamber of Commerce on June 1-2 in downtown Valley Center as we present the second annual Spring Fling! We will be hosting a sanctioned BBQ competition, including People's Choice and Kids'-Q competitions.

BBQ Competition:  Registration is $200. Categories to be judged are: chicken, pork, ribs, beef brisket. To be a contestant please contact the Chamber office. If you are a certified BBQ judge and would like to judge this competition, please contact the Chamber office.  You can download registration forms here and return to the VC Chamber office at P.O. Box 382, Valley Center, KS 67147.  *Registration forms and waivers are required to participate.

Turn in times: Chicken: 12:00 p.m. / Ribs: 12:30 p.m. / Pork: 1:00 p.m. / Brisket: 1:30 p.m.

Kids'-Q:  Cost: Free.  Children 12 and under are invited to participate in the Kids'-Q.  Cook ribs on your own grill for a chance of winning the grand prize! You can download registration forms here and return to the VC Chamber office at P.O. Box 382, Valley Center, KS 67147.  Competition begins at 6:00 p.m.  *Grill and meat provided for each contestant.  Registration forms and waivers are required to participate.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years or older.

People's Choice:   Cost:  $5 tickets before May 20; $7 after and day of event.  Pick up your ticket at the chamber office Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Competition begins at 6:30 p.m.; ends at 7:30 p.m.; winners should be announced by 8:00 p.m.  *Teams are not required to enter the people’s choice competition and may choose not to participate.  Waivers are required for judging participation.

Prizes:

• Grand Champion: $1500 plus trophy
• Reserve Champion: $1000 plus trophy
• First Place: $200 plus plaque
• Second Place: $150 plus plaque
• Third Place: $100 plus plaque
• Fourth Place: $75 plus plaque
• Fifth Place: $50 plus plaque
• People's Choice:  $150 plus plaque
• Kids'-Q:  $50 plus trophy

Awards for People's Choice and Kids'-Q will begin immediately following judging on Friday evening.  Awards for BBQcompetitions will begin immediately following judging on Saturday.
