Welcome and Introductions
Upcoming Events:
- July 22 - Annual Golf Tournament; Sand Creek Station, Newton.
- Fliers were handed out for this event - please sponsor and/or participate in the golf tournament.
- Our fliers this year are GOLD (keeping with our Fall Fest theme); please do not be confused by the Band fliers that are being handed out that look identical to the Chamber fliers for sponsors. Our tournament is July 22.
- September 23-25 - 50th Annual Fall Festival.
- Our next Fall Festival meeting will be on June 27 at 6:30 p.m. Sign up sheets will be available for volunteers.
Chamber News:
- We currently have 108 members.
- The Spring Fling was a success!
- The top winner in BBQ was Hog Tide BBQ from Bentonville, Arkansas.
- The top winner in Chili was Toucan Chew Chili II from Omaha, Nebraska.
- We had 16 BBQ teams; 10 Chili teams; 2 Dutch Oven teams; 20 cars.
- We needed 15 BBQ to be slated a State Championship - we made it!
- We needed 7 Chili entries to be slated a district contest - we made it!
- The Chamber is now a member of the Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) and the South Central Kansas BBQ Society (SCKBS).
- SCKBS will have a smoked ribs class on June 18 at Pig In Pig Out in Wichita. Fee is $35; come learn how to really smoke the ribs!
- Next year’s Spring Fling will be on June 1-2, 2012. We will have more opportunities to get the kids involved with a Kids’-Que and other activities.
- We need more sponsors for next year. Our prize money this year set a record for LOW with only $970 split 22 ways!
- The Chamber website has a brand new look!
- You need to register on the new website. You have the option of uploading your logo and entering your own detailed information for your business.
- If you do not have the time, or do not want to do it, please forward your logo to Marshella and she will set up your account.
- If you have questions and would like a walk through in person - please let Marshella know and we will schedule a time to get together with you.
