ARTICLE II - MEMBERSHIP

 

Section 1, Eligibility
Any person, association, corporation, partnership or other organization having an interest in the objectives of the organization shall be eligible to apply for membership.
 
Section 2, Admissions
Applications for membership shall be in writing, on forms provided for that purpose, and signed by the applicant. The membership committee and Administrative Director (the Administrative Director shall act alone if no membership committee is appointed) shall review all applications and submit them to the Board of Directors with a recommendation. The applicant may be admitted upon Board approval and shall become a member upon payment of the regular scheduled dues as provided in ARTICLE II, Section 3.
 
Section 3, Dues
Membership dues shall be at such rate or rates, schedule or formula as may be from time to time prescribed by the Board of Directors, payable annually, semi-annually or quarterly in advance.
 
Section 4, Termination
Any member may resign from the Chamber upon written request to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors may terminate any member by a majority vote for nonpayment of dues after ninety days from the due date, unless otherwise extended for good cause. Any member may be terminated by a majority vote of the Board of Directors, at a regularly-scheduled meeting thereof, for conduct unbecoming of a member or prejudicial to the aims or repute of the Chamber, after notice and opportunity for a hearing has been afforded the member complained* against. Section 5, Voting
Any firm, association, corporation, partnership or other organization holding membership may nominate an individual whom the holder desires to cast the vote allotted to it's subscription, and shall have the right to change such nomination upon written notice. Each paid membership will have one vote. Board may vote by email on any change to a membership agreement.
 
Section 6, Honorary Membership
Distinction in public affairs shall confer eligibility to honorary membership. Honorary members shall have all the privileges of members, except the right to vote, and shall be exempt from payment of dues. The Board of Directors shall confer or revoke honorary membership by a majority vote.
 
Section 6a, Associate Membership
Any person over the age of Eighteen (18) years of age shall be eligible for associate membership. As an associate such person shall be required to pay nominal annual dues as set forth by the Directors thereby be entitled to all the rights and privileges of membership except the right to vote for Directors other than the Director-at-Large.
 
Section 7, Waiver of Dues
The Board of Directors, at its election, may waive or reduce the amount of annual dues for new members during such new member's first year in business in Valley Center area.
